冰箱制冷系统与冷库制冷系统的区别在于制冷量的不同，冰箱容积一般只有几百升而已，而冷库容积就大了，成百上千立方米的都有。因而冷链物流网认为，两者制冷系统其制冷及控温的复杂性就不是一个等级的。

冰箱的制冷系统构成相对简单，冷库制冷系统的组成所需要的附属设备较多，像阀门、高压储液器、低压储液器、排气装置、排液器等等，这些在普通的冰箱里是不需要的。
冰箱的制冷压缩机一般是涡旋压缩机；而冷库方面，小型冷库采用涡旋压缩机，中大型冷库采用的多是活塞制冷压缩机或螺杆式制冷压缩机，而较大型冷库，采用螺杆式制冷压缩机的较多。
家用的冰箱制冷温度也就零下十几度，冷库可达到零下几十度，有的甚至可以达到零下60度。
