盛夏时分，在江夏区金水办事处的荷塘里，新鲜藕带供不应求，农户们正抢抓有利时机赶“鲜”上市。“抽”藕带，实为“挖”。挖藕工们头戴遮阳帽、穿上防水裤，把头埋在层层叠叠的荷叶间，顺着冒尖的荷秆摸下去，扣住分叉点，顺势拔扯出泥，撸一撸上面附着的淤泥，然后在水里荡一荡，细白的藕带便“出水”了。藕带不易储存，为保证新鲜度，挖起来的藕带得尽快送到金水祺良的厂房里，清洗后分拣、沥水、装袋、打包、分筐。一系列操作后，新鲜藕带就会跟随冷链物流踏上下一段旅程，通过电商和物流，走入农贸市场和千家万户。

目前，江夏金水莲藕种植面积1万余亩、总产量2万吨。实现从“卖资源”到“卖品牌”转变，生产10多种莲藕系列产品，莲藕年总产值达9000余万元。藕产品深加工成为企业延长产业链、增加产品附加值的重要途径。
